founded to support high impact initiatives that achieve better outcomes among
at-risk youth, particularly children aging out of foster care.
LET'S BREAK THE CYCLE
Children in foster care face significantly worse outcomes than their peers. Due to a lifetime of instability, children transitioning from the foster care system into adulthood lack the support necessary to embark upon life on a positive note. Most faced life-altering abuse, neglect and/or abandonment, and do not have a support network to prepare them for the next phase of life. ACE of Hearts provides safe and affordable housing, vocational or college assistance, and an Army of Support to help former foster youth thrive. Together, we will break the cycle.
HOMELESSNESS
40% of youth aging out of foster care
will be homeless within 18 month. Without other options, most return to the abusive environments that they were removed from. ACE provides safe housing opportunities. |
EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMESLess than 4% of youth who age out of the foster care system attain a college degree, despite having access to college tuition assistance. Additionally, foster children score 16-20% lower academically than their peers. ACE utilizes the Department of Education's Foster Care Transition Toolkit to help each child achieve their goals.

SIGNIFICANT NUMBERSApproximately 20,000 children age out of foster care each year, often leading to incarceration, early parenthood, and persistent unemployment.
In fact, nearly 1/5 of the prison population in the US is comprised of former foster children. |

When safe housing is no longer a barrier, youth can focus on their futures. In addition to providing a safe haven, ACE Academy guides youth through a college or vocational path and empowers them with constant access to mentors who are committed to their success. College may not be the correct path for every child aging out of foster care; therefore, we introduce them to the many vocational paths also available. Every youth continues in what is known as extended care, which ensures that they continue to receive monetary assistance as long as they are enrolled in a vocational or college path. Each child has his/her private space and is responsible for standard household responsibilities. Throughout the month, youth participate in educational workshops about financial planning, career skills and even learn how to change a tire and stop a leak. Every skill will get them one step closer to a fruitful adulthood.
